Recipe Help

Can I substitute the meats or cheeses?

Absolutely! Swap in meats such as ham for turkey or choose Swiss or cheddar in place of provolone for your preferred flavor combination.

How do I make this vegetarian?

Simply omit the meats and boost the veggie portion with additions like grilled zucchini or artichoke hearts for a hearty version.

Can I prepare these sandwiches in advance?

Yes, assemble the filling ahead and refrigerate for up to two hours. Fill the rolls just before serving to keep them fresh.

What kind of rolls work best?

Italian hoagie rolls, ciabatta, or any sturdy deli bread pairs well and holds the filling without getting soggy.

Does mortadella always contain pistachios?

Not always, but some varieties do. If you have a tree nut allergy, check ingredient labels carefully before using mortadella.

How can I make the filling less tangy?

Reduce the amount of red wine vinegar or Dijon mustard in the dressing, and add a touch more mayonnaise for a milder taste.

What sides pair well with these sandwiches?

Kettle chips, mixed greens, or a crisp Italian white wine like Pinot Grigio make perfect accompaniments.
